Smoothie Challenge.

So still playing catch up -- but thought you guys might like to know that I have been in the smoothie frame of mind for a couple weeks now. It's starting to dwindle a little more each week, but @simplegreensmoothies is getting ready to kick off another 30-Day Green Smoothie Challenge and I am up for the task! How many of you would like to join me in the venture? Seriously, what's the worst that could happen? Even if you miss one or two days for whatever reason(s), you're still getting more green smoothies in a month then you currently are right? So let's do this!

So here's a few snap shots of some of my most recent smoothies that I've been concocting. I've been buying tons of 'add ins' on Amazon lately and have been playing around with different ingredients. There are a few things though that I'm hesitant about investing in until I know more about them -- not to mention that a lot of them are pretty expensive. But being unhealthy is just as expensive in the long run. Guess I should just suck it up huh?

I won't really hit hard on the ingredients for now as a few of these are getting ready to be reviewed -- including the Hemp Hearts from Manitoba Harvest and a ton of stuff from Amazing Grass. I will tell you this though, I am going thru a TON of PB2 powder lately. I finally just bought some via Amazon and was completely stocked when it arrived. If you're a Prime member, it's completely worth checking out. There's are a few of my great buys recently!

So whose up for the Green Smoothie Challenge? Would love to get some feedback on your favorite recipes too! I usually just cheat and make mine 'green' because of my add-ins but I'd like to start putting actual kale/chard/greens into them as well :)

Green Smoothies.

I know I've touched on smoothies before, but really there's so much information/ideas out there that I could literally do an entire month about smoothies and not even scratch the surface. I wish I had a little more discipline at the moment myself -- I'd be making green smoothies at home every day! Several of my Instagram friends have taken up a 30-day Green Smoothie challenge and let me tell you, there's nothing boring about green smoothies when you're creative geniuses like them. I hope over the next week to share some of their inspiration with you guys. For now, enjoy this recipe that I came across, dubbed the 'Popeye Smoothie'. The combination seems fun -- I personally would use agave nectar over honey, unless you had a good source for some local goodness. ENJOY!

I would type out the source for you on this (sideways on the left) but when I went
to double check their tumblr account, it's no longer active :( Sorry guys!

What are some of your favorite green smoothies?

Review: Justin's PB Cups

So I've been seeing a lot of these around lately on Instagram -- everyone is raving about them. And though I've seen them at Trader Joe's and Whole Foods, I just can't bring myself to spend $2+tax on a very small treat. I had to go into Turnip Truck today though to grab some peppers for dinner tomorrow night and noticed they were at the counter for only .99! Couldn't beat that! And a bad habit was formed :) These are AMAZING! They come in dark chocolate as well. And I felt great about the ingredients list.

Ingredients: Organic Milk Chocolate (Organic Evaporated Cane Sugar, Organic Cocoa Butter, Organic Whole Milk Powder, Organic Chocolate Liquor, Organic Soy Lecithin, Organic Vanilla), Organic Peanut Butter (Organic Dry Roasted Peanuts, Organic Palm Fruit Oil), Organic Evaporated Cane Sugar, Organic Cocoa Butter, Organic Vanilla Flavor, Sea Salt.

That's something worth smiling about :)

Check out their website to see what other products they have and what they stand for. You can even shop online for your treats -- Justin's Nut Butter. I've noticed they've even started selling it at Target stores!

What's your favorite organic treats?

Whole Foods Finds.

So I finally got into Whole Foods this week over in Green Hills area. It's been FOREVER I feel like. I took my 'soon to be a juicing' buddy in to give her a quick run down of the goods and explain to her what to look for pre-juice fast so she wouldn't be overwhelmed. We were able to grab a juice from the juice bar while we  shopped around -- so yummy! I had apple, carrot, lemon and chard. Here's some of my fun finds:

Love how pretty these organic purple bell peppers are!
Anyone know what to do with these? I'm intrigued.
I'm usually pretty leery of juicing tomatoes because they make my stomach
upset sometimes, but these will be great to just throw a handful into the
mix versus cutting up a huge one!
OMGosh! So excited about finding this finally! Everyone and their mother
talks about how good this stuff is and I can't wait to try it out! WHOOT!

Found anything new at the grocery store and tried it out?
