Cleanse - Day 1.

The day's line up.
So today was my first day of my 3 day cleanse from juice.Nashville. Details: it's 5 juices and one milk a day for $36 bucks, basically $6 bucks a piece. You can buy a 3 day juice cleanse for $113 (she throws in a $4 insulated bag) or you can buy each day individually. This is also good if you're wanting to do more than a 3 day cleanse. Check her website's schedule for ordering details as there are deadlines to make sure you get the juice when you want it -- and at it's freshest. Once it's bottled, you have three days to drink it up :) Lineup: oh yeah (apple, kale, collard and lemon) -- i heart carrots (straight carrot) -- c-ya (apple, orange, grapefruit, ginger) -- whoa (apple, beet, kale, ginger) -- snap (apple, carrot, ginger) and an almond milk.

Starting Weight: 127.9

I started off with the i heart carrots. It's the first time I've ever drank straight carrot juice and it's definitely not for the weak of stomach. When doing a juice fast, you want to make sure that you sip your juice, not chug. It helps release the goodness over a longer period of time and helps with the fullness factor. I was a little over zealous with the carrot this morning though as I was really hungry and definitely almost lost my cookies. The juice itself taste wonderful -- kind of sweet with a little bit of an earthy taste. But again, probably not the one I should've started my day with.

A couple hours later, I dived into the snap which I'd had in the past. Probably one of my favorite juices in the whole line up. And it's super yummy when it's really cold! I think tomorrow, I'll make sure to drink half the snap with half the carrot, switching off between the two.

Sometime around lunch time, I busted out the oh yeah. Out of all her green juices that she offers, this one is towards the bottom of the list. It's not that the flavors/ingredients don't work well together, it's just that I'm a wuss when it comes to drinking anything 'green'. I love my green veggies, but just not thru a straw. I definitely recommend shaking this one through out the drinking process if you plan on sipping it for a while. Otherwise you'll get a nice treat at the end :)

I had c-ya later on in the afternoon while I was getting my wedding hair trial run -- and yes, my wedding is in less than 3 weeks, eek! I've never been a fan of grapefruit, especially when I've juiced it myself at home, but I love how mild it is in her blend. And this particular one is so great for our immune systems.

Later on this evening (around 7:30ish) I decided to start in on my milk for a night cap. I will tell you this, if you're juicing for any length of time (ie a cleanse/fast), you'll want to get extra sleep to help your body out. Unfortunately I got up really early this morning, but I plan on being to bed much earlier than my 11 o'clock usual. You'll body will thank you for the extra sleep PLUS you won't get stuck in that 'I want to snack while I'm on the couch' window of time that happens every night after dinner. Back to the milk. It wasn't labeled, but from looking on the website, I found out that it's almond milk. It doesn't have a whole ton of flavor unfortunately and it was pretty 'thin' -- meaning, I didn't get as 'full' off it as I was hoping right before bed. It went down pretty easy though and definitely was relaxing on my stomach. I don't know if you've ever tried to sleep with a stomach full of liquid, but it's never been one of my favorites. Thankfully, I didn't have that problem when going to sleep tonight.

Insight: So a few things that I learned from my first day. One, don't drink the carrot juice by itself. Two, I need to drink a TON more water. Water not only helps us feel full, but also helps flush all the toxins out of your system that are getting broken up via the cleanse. And lastly, don't scrimp on the juice. I never got around to the 'woah' beet juice today because I was afraid I was going to literally run out of juice. It's recommended that you drink a juice every 2 hours or so and at the rate I was going this morning, I was going to be out. Luckily for me though, I didn't get very hungry after lunch until early evening, so I was able to space it out a little more. So tomorrow I'll finish all my juice + my extra woah! Whoot!

What are thoughts that you guys have after your cleanses? What's the longest you've ever done?

  1. I am just starting day one of this cleanse. I am having a really tough time with the taste...Honestly, the only one that I could get down without a struggle was cya.
    Do you have any tips?

  2. Sorry that I'm just seeing this now, I hope that day two was much better for you! I struggled with a few of these and found that day 2 was much easier. Instead of drinking one juice completely in a setting, I would drink half of two juices, back and forth -- ie the carrot one was rough for me, so I drank it with the snap along side. Have you ever juiced on your own with a juicer? If you haven't, then you don't know how good you have it with this cleanse. I guess that's why I really like the taste of her green juices :) I know that when I try to make them myself, they are awful! Hope this finds you in time and I'll be curious to know how you did! Also, drink lots of water!!
