Food Play II.

So I LOVE that people still find time in their busy day to day lives to 'play' with their food. I have a little one that is almost to the stage where playing with her food is going to be fun. And I'm dreading it a little. Not so much the 'having fun part' but more the 'cleaning up' part -- and trying to teach her when it's appropriate (ie at home) and when it's not (ie at a restaurant). Only time will tell :) Enjoy this 'Instagram Inspiration' of other people playing with theirs!

Review: Fearless Chocolate!

So I've been looking for some new 'healthier' chocolate options -- milk chocolate and white chocolate will always be my favorites, but I know that they aren't very good health wise. So that pretty much only leaves dark chocolate on the drawing board. While perusing thru Whole Foods the other day, I came across the 'sweet' aisle -- and decided to take a gander. I was completely overwhelmed by all the choices and wasn't sure what I should be looking for exactly. So my eye spotted 'exploding coconuts' and an elephant on the package, so the choice was obvious :)

The front of the package (and the back) indicates that a 'bite' of the chocolate bar is missing. I didn't realize till I got home and read the package...and then opened it, that it LITERALLY is missing a big bite :) The back says "Thank you for donating a bite of your chocolate bar to those who enrich our world with wild and wondrous creativity! FEARLESS donates 1% of it's annual profits to changemakers suggested by YOU! Check out what else it says: ChangeMakers.

So besides the cool logo and the charity benefits of buying it -- it has great ingredients, it's organic and it just tastes good! Check out their website in it's entirety. There are several different flavors to choose from and not only is there a 'store locator' button, but you can also order the bars online :) Win -win situation!

What's your favorite indulgence?

Breakfast of Champs!

So I've been pretty proud of myself over the last two days. Ok, more like two mornings. I've been juicing again! I just decided it was now or never and if I kept making excuses for myself, I'd never get around to doing it. Don't think people, just DO! Juice up! I feel it -- a 10 day juice fast -- it's coming soon guys! Whose in?

This one literally had some/all of what was in the fridge -- this made a HUGE
batch and I drank it through out the entire day. Orange. Lemons. Pears.
GS Apples. Carrots. Celery. Swiss Chard. Zucchini. Kiwis. Pineapple. and
something that's similar to Red Cabbage, can't remember the name.
2 GS Apples. 1 Orange. 1 Lemon. 6 Carrots. 1 Pear. And a handful of
Brussel Sprouts. I know that most people don't like to eat these, let alone
even think about juicing them, but they're surprisingly good. They give
the juice a little bit of a strong 'kick' in the flavor department and it's a
great way to get more green veggies in to your diet!

What are you guys juicing lately? Always looking for new recipes!!

EYC Friday: Orange Edition.

So I know it's suppose to be Eat Your Colors Friday -- but I wanted to just feature 'orange' today since Fall Squashes are starting to pop up everywhere! What are some of your favorite orange fruits/veggies?

To Juice or Not to Juice?

That is not a question in my life -- it's usually just a matter of, do I have time to juice or not to juice :) Since the very first day I juiced, I told the beau that I'd never go thru life again without it. And I'm super bummed that I've let myself get away from juicing every single day. I resolve to be more diligent about it, especially leading up to my juice fast. I've decided that I may just have to go at it alone this time. If I don't just do it, I'll come up with more and more excuses to delay it and trust me, I WANT/NEED to do one badly. I miss how it use to make me feel when I was juicing everyday. Enjoy your 'Instagram Inspiration' for the week.

Now's your last chance, any takers on the juice fast?

Whole Foods Finds.

So I finally got into Whole Foods this week over in Green Hills area. It's been FOREVER I feel like. I took my 'soon to be a juicing' buddy in to give her a quick run down of the goods and explain to her what to look for pre-juice fast so she wouldn't be overwhelmed. We were able to grab a juice from the juice bar while we  shopped around -- so yummy! I had apple, carrot, lemon and chard. Here's some of my fun finds:

Love how pretty these organic purple bell peppers are!
Anyone know what to do with these? I'm intrigued.
I'm usually pretty leery of juicing tomatoes because they make my stomach
upset sometimes, but these will be great to just throw a handful into the
mix versus cutting up a huge one!
OMGosh! So excited about finding this finally! Everyone and their mother
talks about how good this stuff is and I can't wait to try it out! WHOOT!

Found anything new at the grocery store and tried it out?

Breakfast.

So everyone knows how important breakfast is, right? Well, I am the WORST at eating breakfast. I guess it's mostly for two reasons -- (1) I never have 'time' to eat breakfast and (2) I don't tend to like 'breakfast' type foods. I've decided that both of these excuses are invalid and I'm trying to reprogram my way of thinking. If you don't make 'time' for something, than yes, you won't have time for it. But everyone needs to make time for their health before it decides to take 'time' for us when we least expect it. And my problem of not liking breakfast type foods is because the foods that I don't care for aren't the ones I should be eating for breakfast anyways -- ie fast foods, etc. Here's some quick Instagram Inspiration from someone that I follow and just absolutely wish that I could have breakfast at their house every morning :) Then I'd definitely never skip another one again! @eathealthyworkhard
